The New Century Club held its May meeting and luncheon at the Schedel Arboretum and Gardens in Elmore. After lunch and a meeting in the Brown Welcome Center, the group took to golf carts for a guided tour of the gardens.

The visit included stops at the Bonsai Garden and the many sculptures that enhance each of the many gardens.

Guides explained the history of the Schedels and their generosity to the community in the gifting of the arboretum and gardens. Joe and Marie Schedel planned and built the beautiful 17-acre garden estate for the study and preservation of nature and the arts.

Club members learned about the significance of each garden and sculpture.

After the tour, the group visited the lithophane collection. The Blair Collection was donated by Laurel Blair to the city of Toledo in 1993. In July of 2020, it was donated to the gardens.

The Blair Collection is the largest collection of lithophanes in the world.

Housed in the Schedel home, items are rotated frequently and the various lithophanes are available for viewing at different times of the year.
