Music at the Market presented by Mercy Health will feature the Lori Lefevre Quintet, Thursday, June 24, from 7 to 8:30 p.m on the Commodore Building lawn, 140 East Indiana Avenue in downtown Perrysburg.
Concertgoers are encouraged to take a blanket or chair and settle in for the evening.
“Lori Lefevre is a wellknown jazz singer throughout the Midwest, with several successful CDs to her credit,” said Robin Ballmer, organizer. “She’s a jazz voice instructor at Hillsdale College, and a member of the vocal jazz ensemble, 6th Edition. Her distinct singing style has been compared to Ella Fitzgerald, Nancy Wilson and Sarah Vaughn.”
Ms. Lefevre will perform for Music at the Market with “a group of highly regarded musicians, all with impressive individual musical careers,” Ms. Ballmer explained.
Guitarist Chris Buzzelli recently retired from the jazz faculty at Bowling Green State University, where he was professor of guitar and jazz studies, director of the vocal jazz ensemble and founding director of the New York Voices vocal jazz camp.
Kevin Eikum, a bassist for the Toledo Jazz Orchestra, also is a member of 6th Edition; Scott Kretzer, on drums is a performer and teacher on the faculty of Heidelberg College; and Kevin Korecki on keyboard is part of the jazz trio Straight Up and remembered from his days in the dance band, Touched.
The next concert is Thursday, July 1, featuring Swingmania.
The Music at the Market concert series is made possible by Mercy Health, Perrysburg Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Perrysburg Board of Education.
