Steve Etzel Steve Etzel served in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1994, including two tours of duty in Vietnam. Mr. Etzel was a helicopter pilot assigned to the 118th Helicopter Assault Company, providing direct support for the 25th Infantry Division.
Jack O’Shea Jack O’Shea served in the U.S. Army from 1969 to 1971. Mr. O’Shea served in a mortar gun platoon in Vietnam, assigned to the 5th Battalion, 7th Cavalry, 1st Cavalry Division.

Dave Gogel Lieutenant Gogel served in the U.S. Army from 19691971. He spent some time in Frankfurt, Germany, with the 2nd of the 6th Artillery. Later he was sent to First Field Headquarters in Cam Ranh Bay in the Central Highlands of Vietnam, as a field artillery lieutenant in the 2nd of the 17th.
Jack Bushmeyer Lieutenant Bushmeyer served in the U.S. Army from 1969 to 1972. He was in the MACV-Military Assistance Command to the South Vietnamese soldiers, part of the First Aviation Brigade, their headquarters near Tan Son Airport in Saigon.
One way to let Vietnam veterans know their sacrifices have not been forgotten is to learn about the war. Such knowledge can inspire a greater appreciation of the cost of the war on the service members who fought it. More than 58,000 American military personnel lost their lives as a result of the Vietnam War.
Arthur Mancini, M.D. Arthur Mancini, M.D. served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam from 1969 to 1971. He served as a company commander for the Charlie Medical Company of the First Division in LaI Khe, and later as a trauma surgeon at the 27th Surgical Hospital in Chu Lai.
Juan Artiaga Many Perrysburg residents know Juan Artiaga as longtime city worker and member of Perrysburg American Legion Post 28 color guard, which leads our hometown parades. Mr. Artiaga served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1969 to 1975, part of that time in the 3rd Marine Division in Vietnam.
William Smith Captain Smith served in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1972. He spent part of this time in Vietnam in the 82nd Airborne as a platoon leader and later served in the 25th Infantry Division, which patrolled areas in western Vietnam near the Cambodian border.
Peter Casey Peter Casey served in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1971. Part of that time was spent in South Vietnam, as a civil affairs officer, assisting the South Vietnamese in quality of life issues, such as delivering food, distributing building supplies and setting up health clinics.
The anniversary of National Vietnam Veterans day is March 29. Americans will unite to thank and honor Vietnam veterans and their families for their service and sacrifice. The date was chosen to be observed in perpetuity because March 29, 1973, was the day the last U.S. combat troops departed Vietnam.
