The link between oatmeal and lower cholesterol
The European Food Information Council (EUFIC) notes that beta-glucan, a dietary fiber found in oatmeal, has certain properties that can help individuals lower levels of cholesterol in their blood.
In fact, the EUFIC cites research that consuming three grams of dietary beta-glucan each day may reduce “bad” cholesterol levels by as much as 10 percent.
