    Fire protection for rural Perrysburg Township historically had been provided by the City of Perrysburg. The township shared expenses, about $16,000 a year by 1961. That year, the trustees appointed a study committee and it recommended the establishment of a Perrysburg Township Volunteer Fire Department. But there may have been another reason as well.
