Terry C. Eckel, age 77, of Perrysburg, passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio.

He was born April 22, 1947, in Toledo, to John and Florence (Haas) Eckel. Terry graduated from Rossford High School, where he was an all-league player for the undefeated football teams of 1964 and 1965. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army. Terry married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Louise Michelsen, on November 17, 1967. They shared 38 years together until she passed on March 26, 2006.

Terry worked as a production manager for Chrysler for 32 years, retiring in 2000. After retiring, Terry worked for CedarCreek Church-West Toledo and later helped start a church in Melbourne, Florida. He enjoyed camping and was an avid fisherman—a true “fish whisperer.” Terry’s generosity and willingness to help anyone was well known. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren; he will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his sons, Tim (Clara) and Todd (Rachel); grandchildren, Lucas (Heidy), Claire, Grace, Grant, Gabby and Lexie; great-granddaughter, Eloise; and siblings, Maurice (Edna), Doug (Sandy), Deb (Jim) Mercurio, Ted (Judy), Stan (Pam), Max (Luann) and Marcia Neagley. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Chris, and brotherin-law, John Neagley.

Friends and family will be received Thursday, May 2, from 3 to 7 p.m., at Witzler-Shank-Walker Funeral Home, Perrysburg, where a celebration of Terry’s life will be held at 7 p.m. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to CedarCreek Church-West Toledo, 2600 West Sylvania Avenue, Toledo, Ohio 43613. Condolences may be made to the family online at walker funeralhomes.com.
