DONALD T. UNDERWOOD

Donald T. Underwood, age 98, of Perrysburg, passed away at his home on Wednesday, April 3, 2024. He was born on March 6, 1926, to Desso T. and Marcella C. (Westbeld) Underwood in Woodville. He went on to serve in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He later would marry Lavonne Peoples in Pemberville, on August 6, 1949. Together they raised a son and daughter and celebrated more than 63 years of marriage.

Donald worked as a district sales manager for Sun Electric nearly 20 years, and later retired from Prestolite in Toledo. He was a member of Zoar Lutheran Church in Perrysburg. He enjoyed the outdoors, be it gardening, camping, fishing and fixing things. He especially enjoyed working on cars. Donald was an avid sports fan, which included the Ohio State Buckeyes, Detroit Tigers and Red Wings. However, his family remained his greatest joy.

Left to mourn his passing are his children, Lyle (Kristine) Underwood of Sylvania, and Lisa Underwood of Perrysburg; grandchildren, Grant Underwood, Anna (Brian) Kelly; great-grandchildren, Ethan Kelly, Josh Kelly, Gus Underwood, Bo Underwood, and brother, Eugene (Carolyn) Underwood of Elmore. In addition to his wife, Lavonne, he was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Larry Underwood.

Donald will be laid to rest next to Lavonne at a family committal service in Fort Meigs Cemetery, Perrysburg. Officiating will be Pastor Paul Reichert.
