On April 14, Bowling Green State University’s Center for Women and Gender Equity and the Cocoon hosted Take Back the Night at Jerome Library. More than 120 people attended the event, the primary goals of which are to uplift the voices of survivors and raise awareness about the issue of sexual violence. Survivor speak-out, a display of art created by a survivor, performances, and community art-making projects were featured throughout the evening, with breaks between to allow attendees time to decompress between activities. In addition to the programming, there was information on community resources and a march around campus, above. Organizers expressed appreciation to the Center for Women and Gender Equity and Gender Violence Prevention and Education Services for their partnership. “We truly could not have done this without you,” said Robin Guidera, director of development and communications. She also thanked other supporters: BGSU Jerome Library, Resolute Interpreting, In Bloom Flowers and Gifts, Rachel Richardson and BGSU Office of Health and Wellness. “Lastly, thank you to all of the survivors that came out for the march and for the survivor speak-out. Your voice matters and we believe you,” she said.
