Local marine honored with highway dedication
On a perfect, sunny fall day family, friends and local dignitaries gathered at the corner of Rosedale and State Route 65 to honor the memory of U.S. Marine Sergeant David R. Christoff by dedicating in his name a portion of the highway from Rosedale to Elm Street last Saturday.
Sgt. Christoff, a Rossford resident, was killed in action in May, 2006 in Iraq while serving his country during Operation Iraqi Freedom. While conducting combat operations against enemy forces in Assad, Sgt. Christoff was killed by a roadside bomb. He volunteered for duty the day after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks as a way of protecting the freedom and safety of those he loved. He is now laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery.
