Allison L. “Al, the Lawnmower Man” Crawford, 81, of Point Place, entered into the arms of Jesus the day after his 81st birthday, Saturday, May 19, 2018. Al was born May 18, 1937, in a garage on 303rd Street, to the late Allison Otto and Marie (Huber) Crawford. Allison honored his country and proudly served two tours of duty for the United States of America, one in the U.S. Air Force and the other in the U.S. Navy. “As soon as he could push a lawnmower, he was scouring the neighborhood looking for lawns to mow and any odd jobs he could find.” This is how the nickname, “Al, the Lawnmower Man” was born. Al became interested in genealogy, and it became his passion. He was also active in the Point Place Heritage Society and the Point Place Parades. Allison is survived by his sons, Chris Dean, Edward Crawford and Allen Crawford; daughter, Lorrie Harris; stepson, Afton Delles; 10 stepchildren; 28 grandchildren; half-sisters, Patricia Keyser and Carol Jeffers, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Eugene Crawford. A memorial visitation will be held on Monday, June 11, from 9 to 11 a.m., at the David R. Jasin-Hoening Funeral Home, 5300 North Summit Street, Toledo. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Services will conclude with Military Honors in Toledo Memorial Park. Contributions may be considered to donor’s choice. Condolences can be made at hoeningfuneralhome.com.
