WILLIAM BLECKE

William “Bill” H. Blecke, age 90, of Perrysburg, passed away on Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. He was born on July 23, 1927, in Woodville, Ohio, to Carl and Elvenia (Bushman) Blecke. On December 6, 1969, he married Carole B. Lundberg in Toledo, and together they have raised two sons and celebrated nearly 49 years of marriage. Bill served his country during World War II in the United States Navy. Early in his working career, he worked at the Ottawa River Paper Co. as a general accounting supervisor. He later worked 36 years for the Dale Carnegie Courses, first as an instructor and then as an associate sponsor, retiring in 1993. His many memberships included Solomon Lutheran Church in Woodville where he was baptized, confirmed and was the former church treasurer, member of the evangelism committee, finance committee chairman and was a former Sunday School teacher, before becoming a member of Zoar Lutheran Church in Perrysburg, where he and his wife Carole belonged the last 44 years. In addition, he was a member of the Clarence L. Nieman American Legion Post #455 in Woodville. His greatest love will always be his family. In addition to his wife Carole, Bill is survived by his sons, Matthew Blecke of Toledo, Timothy (Erica) Blecke of Dublin; grandsons, Ethan and Andrew; brother, David (Janlou) Blecke of Bay City, Michigan, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Elaine Ohm, Joan Bashore, Kathleen Karchner and brother, Robert Blecke. Family and friends were received Friday, May 11, at the Marsh & Marsteller Funeral Home, 201 West. Main Street, Woodville, Ohio. A funeral service was conducted on Saturday, May 12, at 1 p.m., at Solomon Lutheran Church, 305 West Main Street, Woodville, with the Rev. Timothy P. Philabaum officiating. Interment was in Westwood Cemetery, Woodville. Consideration for memorial contributions may be given to: Zoar Lutheran Church, Solomon Lutheran School.
