TERRENCE LEE SMALE SR.
Terrence Lee Smale Sr., age 66, of Perrysburg, Ohio, went to be with the Lord April 25, 2019, surrounded by his wife and children at the Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg.
Terrence was born to Ronald Smale Sr. and Mary Smale (Griffith) on October 11, 1952 in Toledo, Ohio. He attended Libbey High School in Toledo in the graduating class of 1971. He participated and excelled with his brothers in competitive swimming at the YMCA of Toledo, where he then moved onto becoming an expert marksman serving in the 5th U.S. Army Infantry Rifleman from 1971-1974.
Terrence married Ann-Laura Smale (Monahan) in 1971 and is survived by Ann and three of their four children, Michelle Wilczynski, Seth (Shannon) Smale and Fabrianina “Nina” Smale. He also is survived by his current wife, Deborah L. Smale (Sitkaukaus) of 13 years, as well as 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Smale; his son, Terrence L. Smale II; his parents, Ron and Mary Smale, and his brother, Tom Smale.
Terrence worked for Conrail and retired from Norfolk Southern as a signal maintainer after a combined career of 35 years. After his retirement, you would find him ‘putzing’ around enjoying Detroit Tigers baseball on the TV and radio while enjoying a nice cold beer. Some days you could also find him racing his ‘84 Cavalier at Milan Dragway or enjoying quality time with his beloved grandchildren. He loved his family and friends very much and was always there to give a laugh or a hug.
A Memorial Mass is scheduled for 10 a.m., on Saturday, June 15, at St. Charles Church, 1842 Airport Highway, Toledo. Donations can be made to his wife, in lieu of flowers.
He will be greatly missed and his legacy will live on in the hearts of the people who dearly love him.
