James Coffin Hannum, age 78, of Perrysburg, died on July 6, 2018, at home on the Maumee River, surrounded by his loving family. Jim was a unique individual gifted with knowledge of machining and metal items of all kinds. He graduated from Rutgers University of South Jersey and was the plant maintenance manager for Lehn and Fink Products and Hunt Wesson Foods for over 20 years. He was also an avid hobby machinist who built several working miniature steam engines and contributed technical articles to machinist trade journals. He was always tinkering with something and generally known for his ability to fix anything. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Mary K. Hannum; daughter, Beth Bragg; sons, Jim Jr. (Cindy), Steven (Maria) and Scott (Renee) Hannum; stepchildren, Margret Nicholson and Brian (Maureen) Mc- Carty; sister, Mary Ann Creato and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jim was preceded indeath by his daughter, Shelli Hannum; stepson, Daniel McCarty Jr.; grandson Sean Shadix. The family will receive guests on Thursday, July 12, from 3 to 6 p.m., at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Boulevard, Toledo (419-381-1900). The funeral service will begin at 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the children of his deceased grandson, Sean Shadix through Sun Federal Credit Union in Cindy Hannum’s name.
