Clint Mauk receives Bentley Historic Preservation award
Joseph Klein, past president of Historic Perrysburg Inc., presented the 2019 Bentley Historic Preservation Award to Clint Mauk at the annual meeting May 7.
From the speech honoring Mr Mauk:
The award, named after Mrs. Hilda L. Bentley, acknowledges and honors her lifelong commitment to historic preservation in Perrysburg, the area, Ohio and the nation. She was a moving force behind the preservation movement before it was recognized as a viable and relevant economic crusade.
During her lifetime, she served as a board member of the Ohio Historical Society and the National Trust for Historic Preservation as well as others. An article in “Timeline”—the magazine of the Ohio Historical Connection—recognizes Mrs. Bentley and her nomination of the Columbian House in Waterville as an early site to be preserved. Mr. Mauk knew her personally and considers her to have been the moving force that saved Fort Meigs.
