Board of education, principals consider merits of placing resource officer at Perrysburg Junior High School

Whether or not to put a school resource officer (SRO) in the junior high was the key topic at the Perrysburg Board of Education work session February 4.

The discussion went on for almost one hour, with input from Superintendent Tom Hosler, board president Ray Pohlman, Perrysburg High School Principal Mike Short, Perrysburg Junior High School Principal Don Christie, PHS SRO and Perrysburg Police Officer Greg Cole and board members Eric Benington, Gretchen Downs, Kelly Ewbank and Sue Larimer.

They discussed whether an SRO at PJHS is necessary, the implications and cost and the increasing need to address students’ mental health issues.
