Perrysburg City Council votes 5-2 to ‘grandfather’ existing hens and clarify code

On the issue of raising or not raising chickens in Perrysburg, city council was divided. However, council was in total agreement that Krista Kiessling, spokesperson for families with backyard hens, did an excellent job over the past year in presenting extensive research and facts to council and city administration.

“I thank you Krista for reaching out and all the work and effort that you have done,” said Tim McCarthy, president of council, at the August 1 meeting of Perrysburg City Council. “The citizens shouldered the burden. Krista did all sorts of research to help us write this ordinance. I believe it reached this stage at this time in large part because of Krista’s efforts.”
