William E. Brooks, 95, of Newark, died Monday, August 22, 2022, at Randall Residence of Newark. He was born October 5, 1926, to the late Clyde and Gladys (Warman) Brooks.

Bill was a 1944 graduate of Newark High School and served in the U.S. Navy as a hospital corpsman during World War II. He graduated from the Ohio State University in 1951, and worked for Owens Corning at both the Newark plant and the corporate headquarters in Toledo. Bill retired in 1986 as a division controller.

Bill lived in Perrysburg, Ohio for more than 50 years, where he was an active member of Zoar Lutheran Church. In 2016, he moved back to Newark and became a member of First United Methodist Church of Newark and Christ Lutheran Church of Heath.

Bill is survived by his wife of 70 years, Margaret (Binckley) Brooks; sons, Christian (Amy) Brooks of Westerville, Todd (Beth) Brooks of Newark and Eric (Linda) Brooks of Tarrytown, New York; grandchildren, Peter and Daniel Brooks of Columbus, Bonnie (Tom) Smith of Newark, and Jacob and Ian Brooks of Tarrytown, New York. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Carol Porter.

A funeral service was held at 2 p.m., Monday, August 29, at Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N 21st Street, Newark, with Pastor Todd Frail officiating. Visitation was one hour prior to the start of the service. Military honors were provided by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.
