James R. Blumberg, 66, of Perrysburg, died August 2, 2022, at Hospice of Perrysburg, with his family by his side. He was a devoted father, grandfather and husband. He was born July 25, 1956, to Blanche and George Blumberg of Queens, New

York. Jim joined the U.S. Air Force in 1977, stationed at Homestead AFB, Florida. Here he met Debra Stiles of Mentor, Ohio. They were married February 23, 1980, and had three children, Erica Blanche (Dennis), Anthony Charles and Mitchell James. Jim loved his family, had a good sense of humor and could be sarcastically funny.

He was dedicated to his country and the Federal Aviation Administration as a supervisor of air traffic control. He served at Homestead AFB, Nome, Alaska; Wright Patterson AFB, Memphis, Tennessee; Raleigh, North Carolina; Florence, South Carolina, and Toledo. Jim took his job seriously and was great at controlling aircraft. He brought in presidents’ aircraft, vice presidents’ and controlled airshows, military aircraft, Blue Angels and Thunderbirds. He was known to his ATC friends as Jimmy B.

He was a devoted Catholic and member of St. Rose and St. John XXIII.

He was the grandfather of seven, who he loved endlessly– Ryan, Owen, Alaina Dennis; Ellie, Olivia, Maycee, and Charlie Blumberg. Jim also is survived by son-in-law, Jeremy Dennis; daughters-in-law, Erin and Julia Blumberg; sister-in-law, Kelley Kudulis, her husband, Tony, and nephew, Trevor of Chicago, Illinois; cousins of New York.
