Clara Lou Obee, 82, of Perrysburg, joined Jerry, her husband, on October 6, 2022. She was born to her parents, Lucille and Willy, in 1939, in Toledo. She attended DeVilbiss High School, when she first met Jerry at the roller rink. They married in 1959. She worked as the lunch lady for Toledo Public Schools for 30 years.

Clara was very active with the Walter Weller American Legion Post 135, as president of the auxiliary. She loved to cook, but especially to bake. You were lucky if you got to taste one of her apple pies. Another one of Clara’s favorite pastimes was sharing her children and grandchildren’s many achievements with strangers. Clara made it a point to brag about all her loved ones. It’s only right that we get to brag about her now. It’s not simple to commemorate a person who meant so much to so many people. She radiated kindness and love for others. She was once stopped by security in the airport. By the time she left, they had her brownie recipe. Each place she graced with her presence; she made it feel like home. Just like Rudy’s Hot Dog, where we are seated now while writing this.

Clara joined Jerry after a valiant year fighting her illness.

We know you’re sitting up there enjoying your piping hot decaf, seated next to dad, while he has his hot tea with lemon. You just split your Hershey bar and Muffin is sitting atop the couch like a little mountain goat. And all is well.

She is survived by her children, Wesley W. Obee, Pamela Obee Sargent, Terri (Nick) Camp, Kelly S. Cancino, Karen E. Henisse; grandchildren, Molly (Drew) Beverick, Chris Henisse, Megan Henisee, Alexa (Eric Watson) Camp and Chelsea Cancino. Clara loved her grand pets, George, Axel, Ivy, Beyoncé, Charlie, Nash and Moose.

She also is survived by her sisters-in-law, Carol Grel, Lois Aey, Marilyn Adams; brother-law, Dennis Marvin, and many nieces and nephews.

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the caregivers who so lovingly cared for Clara in her final days.

Last, but not least, Mom was a rabid sports fan. She loved the Tigers. One of the things that people really need to know about her is that she loved the Ohio State Buckeyes. GO BUCKS!

Friends are invited to visit on Friday, October 14, from 3 to 8 p.m., in the Ansberg-West Funeral Home, 3000 West Sylvania Avenue, Toledo, where a prayer service will begin at 7 p.m. Visitation also will be held on Saturday, at 10 a.m., at the Most Blessed Sacrament Church, where the Mass of the Resurrection will follow at 11 a.m., with Rev. Michael Geiger officiant. Burial will be in Toledo Memorial Park Cemetery.
