Ruth M. Shaffer, age 94, of Perrysburg, passed away on Monday, June 27, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, after a brief illness. Ruth was born in 1927, to Louis and Margret Wehde of Perrysburg Township. She graduated from Perrysburg High School and earned her teaching degree at Bowling Green State University. She taught at Indian Hills Elementary School in Rossford for more than 20 years. After retirement, she worked an additional 17 years at Hallmark in Perrysburg. She and her husband, Jack Shaffer, were happily married for 50 years. She was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church in Perrysburg, where she volunteered at their food pantry for more than 40 years. Ruth enjoyed gardening, long walks, bike rides, traveling and her family.

She is survived by her sister, Elizibeth Adkins; sons, Mark (Cathy) Muir, Scott (Laurie) Muir, Tim Muir, and daughter, Cristina (John) White; sister-in-law, Mary Wehde; four grandchildren, Chase (Kim) Muir, Joshua (Jess) Muir, Nicholas and Connor White, along with three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack Shaffer; sisters, Cathryn (Morrie) Descamps and Dorothy (John) Fotheringham; brother, Louis (Marcie) Wehde, and brother-in-law, Cecil Adkins.

Friends and family were received Friday, July 1, from 11 a.m. to noon, at Grace Church, 601 East Boundary Street, Perrysburg, where funeral services began at noon. Burial followed in Fort Meigs Union Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Perrysburg PCU Food Pantry or the Healing Barn in Millbury.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Witzler-Shank-Walker Funeral Home, Perrysburg.
