Great Lakes Community Action Partnership (GLCAP) will again offer heating assistance for those facing a utility shutoff or fuel shortage this winter. The GLCAP Emergency Home Energy Assistance Program (EHEAP) helps residents of Ottawa, Sandusky, Seneca and Wood counties who have received a gas or electric disconnect notice or have already had utilities disconnected.

The program helps households with less than 25 percent bulk fuel supplies such as wood, propane or fuel oil. EHEAP also assists residents who need new or transferred service with a utility company, or have non-working furnaces.

The scheduling hotline for appointments is now open at 567-432-5046. Scheduling also can be conducted online at glcap.org/winterheating. Appointments will be conducted in-person.

Residents must be at or below 175 percent of federal poverty guidelines (e.g. $23,783 annual income/household of one; $48,563 annual income/ family of four) to be eligible for assistance.

Applicants must provide a list of all household members, including social security numbers, birth dates and proof of citizenship; proof of income for all household members for the previous 30 days or 12 months, and copies of recent utility bills.

For applicants seeking utility payment plan help through GLCAP’s Percentage of Income Payment Plan (PIPP) Plus program should apply online at glcap.org/ pipp, or download, complete, and return a paper application to GLCAP at 127 South Front Street, Fremont, Ohio, 43420. No PIPPonly appointments will be conducted. Emergency winter heating assistance through EHEAP is available through March 31.
