Erasmus Peck holds the distinction of being the only congressman who lived in Perrysburg.
Dr. Peck later lived in the finest home in Perrysburg, located just east of the Commodore Perry statue. It burned in 1940. This is an artist’s rendition from the 1875 Wood and Lucas County Atlas.
Dr. Peck bought the lot this house stands on for $100 in 1852. He built the house for himself, lived there and sold it in 1867 for $1,500. The house still stands at 112 East Second Street.

It was Perrysburg’s good fortune that a man named Erasmus Peck found his way to our dear old village. No ordinary man, he was a Perrysburg pioneer doctor. If the name sounds familiar, it is probably relative to the cholera epidemic. His commanding influence and medical acumen helped the village survive this death-dealing scourge during the 1854 summer of horrors.
