Village council opposes 911 consolidation plan
Holland Village Council will not support a plan of the Lucas County Commissioners to consolidate dispatching service for 911 calls.
At an October 15 meeting, council voted unanimously to nominate Maumee Mayor Rich Carr as the village’s representative to the board negotiating the consolidation.
Mayor Lee Irons said if council instead wanted to support the consolidation they should nominate Whitehouse Mayor Don Atkinson who is in favor of the merger.
In July, council approved a resolution opposing the plan because they “are not confident that the consolidation will provide the level of service to Holland residents to which the residents have become accustomed.”
They also do not expect to see any cost savings with the new system.
