Springfield Twp. trustees renew EMS agreement with Lucas County
With changes looming to the structure of the Lucas County emergency medical services, the Springfield Township trustees approved a request by Fire Chief Barry Cousino to renew the agreement for one year instead of three years.
At the January 22 meeting, the fire chief suggested the renewal, effective January 1 and expiring December 31, for the countywide emergency medical services. The agreement is between the county commissioners and Springfield Township and the subdivisions of Toledo, Oregon, Maumee, Whitehouse and Sylvania Township.
The township has contracted with Lucas County EMS since 1982, but the years have taken a toll on the system which is funded by a 0.25 percent general fund sales and use tax.
