Springfield BOE places renewal levy on fall ballot
A renewal levy will be placed on the ballot this fall for Holland/Springfield voters. At the June 26 meeting, the school board agreed to seek voter support for a $3.9 million emergency operating levy.
Unlike traditional levies, which are subject to a reduction factor, this will continue to collect at the same rate for the life of the levy. Voters first approved the request in 2016.
Treasurer Ryan Lockwood said the millage needed to raise $3.9 million has dropped by about 0.5 mills from five years ago. “It went roughly from 5.7 to 5.27 mills,” he added.
