Metroparks Toledo moves forward with levy on fall ballot; Chrys Peterson to lead committee
In a campaign that will feature some prominent community leaders, Lucas County voters will be asked to approve a 2-mill, 10-year property tax levy for Metroparks Toledo this November.
At the July 22 meeting, park commissioners unanimously agreed to place the levy on the fall ballot. If approved, it will generate $10.6 million per year and cost the owner of a $100,000 home $70 annually.
“This is a big day in the future of Metroparks,” said Scott Savage, board president, noting that the park district expects to yield $10 for every levy dollar spent. Some of that millage will be used to secure as much as $50 million in grant funding.
